Licensed Eligible In-Home Therapist (LMHP-E)
Strategic Therapy Associates has an excellent opportunity for a Licensed-Eligible Counselor, Social Worker and/or Marriage & Family Therapist to provide services to children,adolescents and families in Roanoke and surrounding communities while obtaining clinical supervision towards professional license. Must have Masters degree in Counseling, Mental Health, Social work, Marriage & Family, Substance Abuse or or other 60+ credit program approved by the VA Board of Counseling. We are seeking a self-motivated professional therapist to help us grow services in this region.
We offer our eligible therapist a combination of in-home, outpatient and the opportunity and training to perform clinical assessments.
Family Therapist have a self-directed schedule doing community-based work with at-risk children/adolescents and their families in their homes helping to resolve the issues that are putting the children in an at-risk status, eliminating cause for out of home placement. They help empower families to resolve their own problems, and help restore appropriate hierarchy within the household, putting the parents back in loving charge of the children. We use the Strategic Family Therapy treatment model in our work with families, and clinical supervision is geared from that perspective. Our services include: life skills, parenting, communication skills, anger management, case management and coordination with other services and providers.

    Position Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Provide community-based therapeutic mental health services to children, adolescents, adults and families.
    • Empower clients to resolve the issues that can lead to out of home and/or out of community placements, or that may result in institutionalization if not effectively remedied via lesser restrictive measures.
    • Establish rapport quickly and employ creatively, appropriate therapeutic techniques to best meet the needs of the individual client.
    • Be hopeful, optimistic, flexible open-minded and willing to adjust practice for the betterment of their clients.
    • Conduct Clinical Assessments
    • Provide case management services as needed
    • Provide clinical supervision to QMHP level staff
    • Develop effective treatment plans and provide timely feedback to manager regarding client goals and safety and in regard to any other work assignments
    • Actively participate and cooperate in licensure clinical supervision
    • Perform other duties as assigned

      Required Education and Qualification:

      • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy or Psychology from an accredited college/university that will qualify the candidate to register as a Resident in Counseling with the VA Board of Counseling to receive clinical supervision toward licensure as a LPC, LCSW, LMFT etc. For a list of approved degrees please see the VA Board of Counselings Approved Degrees:
      • 1 year of clinical and/or a 500 hour internship providing mental health services to at-risk populations
      • Requires a valid drivers license, good driving record, own vehicle and willingness to transport clients if needed
      • Ability to pass all child protective services, criminal history and DMV background checks
      • Be a self-starter with good organizational and time management skills
      • Must have positive, hopeful and professional attitude
