Serino Coyne LLC, a division of Omnicom Group Inc., a leading global communications company, is a dynamic, mid-sized full-service Advertising and Marketing Agency, specializing in theatre and entertainment related accounts. We are seeking a bright, skilled, and detailed oriented Accountant to join our Finance team. You are experienced, professional, creative, confident, and responsible.

The Accountant works to prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP accounting, completing account analysis and reconciling accounts to subsidiary ledgers. Additionally, the Accountant prepares monthly expense forecasts. Sarbanes Oxley testing is done quarterly. Sales tax preparation. Staff Accountant reports to and works closely with the Accounting Director.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Responsible for month-end general ledger closings, record journal entries, accruals, payroll, and intercompany transactions
  • Reconcile bank statements ensuring all transactions are recorded and documented accurately
  • Handle monthly reconciliations of balance sheet and P&L accounts
  • Prepares financial statements and variance analysis
  • Prepares monthly expense forecasting
  • Quarterly Sarbanes-Oxley testing and reporting to be completed in a timely manner
  • Completing various weekly internal and ad-hoc reports for analysis

Requirements:

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years of previous accounting work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experienced with MS Office applications, especially proficient in Excel. Must have strong organizational and detail-oriented skills. In addition, effective communication skills both verbal and written is required. Ability to professionally handle confidential materials. Hyperion and Advantage programs are a plus.

Additional Requirements

Flexibility to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed based on scheduled month-end, quarter-end or year-end deadlines and/or departmental needs. The agency's general work week/hours are Monday - Friday, 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., but the nature of this position will require modification to the general work days/hours at various times throughout the year. Your supervisor will advise and approve when such modifications to the agency's general work hours are required.

Success Factors

Detailed oriented, confident with accounting/finance software, meet deadlines and work well with team/others. Very strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to think critically; a problem solver. Very strong intermediate computer skills (particularly MS Excel). The ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team environment. A sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.
