The V&A director for olipudase/ASMD will report directly to the head of Global Value & Access (V&A) for Rare Diseases, working closely with the entire global olipudase team & support functions (including commercial, marketing, new product planning, clinical development, medical affairs, regulatory, HEOR, global pricing, and regional/country commercial and market access leads) to prepare for the launch of olipudase to treat acid sphingomyelinase deficiency (ASMD). The V&A director will finalize & execute the global market access strategy and value proposition in alignment with the brand strategy for the pipeline asset in conjunction with Region/Country MAx teams to ensure optimal access conditions at launch and throughout the life-cycle of the product. The incumbent will lead and guide strategic planning to support value & access optimization around the world for ASMD, as well as provide V&A supplemental support to other in-line programs. This individual will lead a cross-functional matrixed team including health economics, pricing, public affairs and communications, as well as represent the Market Access function on the global brand and global program teams for olipudase.

Mission & objectives:

Main scope: to contribute to the development and coordination of the global market access strategy (and access plans) for olipudase (ph3 enzyme replacement therapy to treat ASMD) and ensure implementation at the Region/Country level to ensure optimal access conditions at launch and through the lifecycle of the products.

+ Define & implement Market Access (MAx) strategy and plan/tools in line with the global brand strategy

+ Partner effectively with global support functions, regions and countries to execute on MAx core deliverables (ex: specific market access or other tools, such as MAx launch blueprint)

+ Contribute to the development of the specific P&R policy guidance and monitor country implementation with regional/global stakeholders, ensuring business objectives are protected in launch & subsequent price review proposals

+ Ensure development of specific evidences needs to support product clinical & economic value by collaborating with the relevant departments (medical, health economics, R&D, etc)

+ Establish with countries early & effective payer/proxy payer interactions (including product specific challenges).

+ Partner effectively with relevant departments (as listed above) to influence the market assessment, product positioning, and target product profile by providing strategic input regarding market access, reimbursement and pricing information throughout the product life cycle.

+ Monitor the marketplace for market access issues, threats & opportunities, particularly for rare diseases and rare blood disorders.

+ Ensure with regions and/or appropriate functions the MAx readiness of countries & support as needed (ex: negotiations, sharing of best practices, etc)

+ This role is to be based in Cambridge, MA unless otherwise agreed to by the V&A head for Global Rare Diseases.


+ BA/BS and 5+ years relevant professional experience including market access, health economics, pricing & reimbursement

+ 5+ years experience at local &/or international level w/ knowledge of global market access & payer environment.

+ Knowledge of rare disease market access desirable, but other backgrounds welcome.Preferred Qualifications:

+ Proven track record of leading within a matrixed environment to reach business objectives

+ Demonstrated ability to take on highly complex business problems, recommend strategic and tactical solutions in a simple and straightforward manner

+ Exhibits outstanding written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively write and deliver presentations to professionals at all levels within Sanofi
