**General Scope and Summary**



SAGE Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful, and integrative thinker for a technically oriented role. In particular, we seek an individual that is passionate about science, discovery, and the application of statistical and modeling techniques. A key aspect of the role will be the analysis and integration of data to create frameworks for translation, hypothesis generation, decision making, inspiring new experiments, and quantifying risk within Research programs. This role will focus on support of translational and mechanistic PK/PD modeling for neuroscience Discovery research. In addition, the ideal candidate will be expected to demonstrate an ability to broadly evaluate large, complex, and multifactorial data sets, as well as develop systems biology & biological network models. The successful demonstration of high-quality expertise in these areas will be critical.



**Roles and Responsibilities**



+ Provides scientific expertise and support in areas of mechanistic PK/PD & translational modeling, signal-processing, biomarker interpretation, efficacious dose predictions, and target-centric mechanistic models.

+ Utilize advanced modeling methodologies to critically evaluate study designs, data interpretation, hypothesis generation, and risk assessments.

+ Supports and maintains external partnering relationships to leverage knowledge and capabilities.

+ Contribute to the continuous improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of our modeling infrastructure through use of collaborative source code, large collections of data, and custom analysis toolboxes.

+ Prepares and communicates lucid scientific reports (written and verbal) to project teams. Generate high-quality datasets for internal white papers and scientific publications.

Demonstrated ability to execute strategic plans in agreed upon timelines, excellent analytical skills, and an ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and understandable way. Able to align personal goals and activities with department and corporate priorities with support from supervisor.



**Basic Qualifications**



+ Ph.D. or MS with 5+ years of experience is required. Relevant experience in a pharmaceutical or drug discovery environment is highly desirable.

+ Background in pharmacometrics, mathematics, statistics/biostatistics, computational biology/chemistry, computer science, electrical/biomedical engineering, or a related field is required. Experience in neuroscience related field is strongly encouraged.

+ Strong skills in problem solving, critical data analysis, and data interpretation.

+ Excellent skills in computer programing languages such as Matlab, Python, R, and/or other research software platforms.

+ Strong ability to create integrative models of complex pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic datasets generating comprehensive, clear, and easy to understand reports.



**Preferred Qualifications**



+ Experience with compartmental PK / PKPD modeling software (NONMEM, Matlab Simbiology).

+ Knowledge of Bayesian mixed modeling techniques.

+ Experience with data visualization techniques, source-code versioning, application of best practices for coding, and collaborative development of code.

+ Understanding of biopharmaceutical and ADME properties.

+ Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution oriented.

+ Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors.

+ Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
