**ROLE SUMMARY**



Pfizer's BioMedicine Design Biotherapeutic Expression and Purification group (BEP) is seeking a protein biochemist. Qualified candidate will play an essential role in a high-energy protein purification research laboratory. The purification group is responsible for non-GMP protein drug lead generation, supporting the various Pfizer research units and their pre-clinical therapeutic in-vitro and in-vivo needs. The candidate will be responsible for processing of mammalian- expressed recombinant protein modalities including, but not limited to, monoclonal antibodies through the use of state-of-the-art technologies and equipment. The candidate will contribute to the group wide deliverables and be required to work on several projects simultaneously presenting results and updates at group meetings.



**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**



+ Provide scientific guidance for the protein biochemistry group supporting early discovery

+ Develop efficient purification protocols for novel biotherapeutic candidates

+ Provide highly-purified biotherapeutic candidates to discovery project teams

+ Drive technology innovation; design and implement automation strategies for high-throughput protein purification

+ Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including therapeutic discovery teams, research units, BEP Stable CHO production group



**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS**



+ A PhD with 0-3 years of relevant experience or MS with 7+ years of relevant experience in Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Sciences or a related discipline along with a solid understanding of biotherapeutic production

+ Demonstrated technical expertise in protein purification

+ Strong understanding of analytical biochemistry and experience in protein characterization techniques

+ Experience and knowledge in the operation of AKTA and Agilent chromatography systems.

+ Experience operating Unicorn and ChemStation software packages

+ Strong communication skills, written and oral

+ Mentorship experience

+ Prior experience in therapeutic protein discover and biochemistry research



**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**



+ Industry experience in antibody purification

+ Past experience on d esigns and implements new procedures for purification process improvements

+ Proven track record in project delivery
