Position Summary Under the supervision of the Director of Career Services, the Associate Director of Career Services is responsible for providing quality career development services to students and alumni, creating employer partnerships, and increasing the visibility of NYU Wagner. The Associate Director will advise students and alumni on effective career development and job search strategies in the areas of public and nonprofit program administration, social impact and innovation, healthcare management, urban planning, international development, and other industries that fall within these categories (e.g., public finance, public policy, consulting, hospital administration). These services will be provided via one-on-one career advisement, as well as the management and production of career workshops, career fairs, and networking/community building activities. They will also help market these services to students and alumni through various channels. The Associate Director will help lead the department's efforts: to prepare students and alumni to compete within a global public service environment; to expand career advisement and program offerings in the areas of international development, social impact and innovation, and advocacy and activism; and to participate in efforts to cultivate relationships with key public service employers on a local, national, and international scale. The Associate Director will work in collaboration with students, faculty, employers, peer schools, and other key stakeholders to achieve the aforementioned goals. Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor s degree Preferred Education: Master s degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Education, International Affairs, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Human Resources or related fields. Required Experience: This position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in career development, counseling, international public service/affairs, or human resources, as well as a minimum of 5 years experience in program development, project management, relationship management and planning small/mid-scale events. Preferred Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in an academic environment, public sector organization, and/or in a public service program within a private sector organization is preferred. A minimum of 3 years experience in employer/alumni relations. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: This position requires excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills. This position also requires knowledge of public sector employment options and hiring trends. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Social Media tools is required. Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Familiarity with public sector employment areas such as urban planning, healthcare administration, international development, urban planning, and nonprofit/government consulting is preferred. Familiarity with SalesForce, Advance, Symplicity, or other relationship management databases is a plus.
