Position Summary NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study is looking for an Administrative Director for the MA Program to manage the operations of the School's Masters of Art (MA) Program including admissions, financial aid, adviser assignments, degree audits, and budget management processes. Counsel the School's 200 graduate students with the goal of enhancing their academic experience and retaining them as students; ensure students receive timely and appropriate academic advice. Cultivate relationships with NYU schools and faculty to identify, engage and encourage faculty to advise Gallatin MA students. Collaborate with and support primary academic advisers in working with their advisees. Develop activities to support the academic program, foster community, and encourage student leadership. Conduct orientation and information sessions and other workshops for School's graduate students. Write content and update MA program information on School's website and printed publications. Teach one course per academic year; provide non-classroom instruction and academic advisement to students. Qualifications Required Education: ABD (all but dissertation) Preferred Education: Ph.D. or other terminal degree strongly preferred Required Experience: 3-5 years of relevant increasingly responsible professional level experience including experience with academic advising, developing policies, procedures, and programs, teaching, and staff supervision or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Experience: Experience developing initiatives or programs that build commonality and/or community among a diverse group; experience counseling students. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to interpret and effectively communicate policies and procedures. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, networking, problem-sovling, written, verbal, and analytical skills. Strong leadership and planning skills.
