DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES, Schwarzman College of Computing (SCC), to serve as a strategic partner to the assistant dean. Will be responsible for directing a wide-range of human resource (HR) activity on behalf of the assistant dean, with particular focus on administrative, support, research, and other academic staff. Responsibilities will include serving as senior counsel to the SCC and its units in all areas of HR (i.e., recruitment, retention, wage and salary administration, job classification, performance development and management, employee relations, organizational development, workforce and succession planning, and diversity initiatives); initiating and implementing assessments of HR programs/procedures and developing HR policy and practice within the SCC; ensuring integrity of HR operations; working with managers and staff to proactively identify and resolve HR concerns; and providing leadership for staff in the SCC departments, labs, and centers (DLCs) who are responsible for HR-related decisions and operations. Job Requirements REQUIRED: B.A./B.S. (master's preferred); seven years' progressive experience as an HR generalist or similar role, preferably in a higher education setting; excellent active listening, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills; ability to provide collaborative leadership, generate creative solutions to complex problems, adapt to and work effectively with various individuals/groups in a variety of situations, understand formal and informal organizational structures and relationships, and link long-range visions and concepts to daily work; and good judgment, tact, and discretion with sensitive and confidential matters. The ability to implement new or interpret existing policies or procedures is critical. Must be able to prioritize multiple and often competing demands under deadline pressure and be detail-oriented but able to view larger policy concerns. MIT experience preferred.
