Our facility in Santa Cruz, CA has an immediate opportunity for an early career Environment Health & Safety professional who wants to be part of this mission. In this role, you will support Space Environment, Safety, and Health department (ESH) in the ongoing management and enhancement of ESH programs, environmental remediation and overall regulatory compliance. Your specific job duties will include:
Developing, administering, implementing, and maintaining safety and environmental programs in accordance with regulatory requirements
Assisting in ESH program assessments, critical operations oversight, mishap investigations, and ensure proper documentation of Cal OSHA requirements
Inspecting facilities, machinery, material handling equipment, and all hazardous test operations in order to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure regulatory compliance
Assisting in generating ESH program documents, developing contractual data deliverables, collecting and presenting ESH metrics, supporting organizational safety initiatives, and assist in conducting required safety training for employees
Focusing on accident and injury prevention
Ability to occasionally work on varied shifts and on weekends as well as occasional travel will be necessary.

Bachelors degree and/or equivalent experience and education
Basic Environmental Health & Safety knowledge or experience
Must be able to work on-call and varied shifts on occasion
Ability to travel infrequently
Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance and United States citizenship required
Professional ESH experience in a manufacturing, test, or industrial environment
Basic knowledge with ordnance safety and/or working with ordnance
Demonstrated knowledge of Cal/OSHA, and Environmental requirements, regulations and associated compliance programs
ESH experience in subject areas such as industrial safety, material handling, NFPA Life Safety Code, overhead cranes and rigging, lock-out-tag-out, and hazard recognition and other industrial safety programs
Comfortable in a manufacturing, test, or aerospace environment
Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment
Ability to ensure regulatory compliance with minimal direct supervision.
Strengths in customer service and cooperative teaming, and a demonstrated capability in managing multiple projects/tasks effectively prioritizing tasks and work load, and ensuring timely closure of assignments.
Certified Safety Professional certification (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist certification (CIH) orother ESH nationally recognized certifications.
Strong passion for environmental stewardship and overall compliance.
