Job Title: Stabilization Worker Updated 04.14OrganizationHeading Home's mission is to end homelessness in Greater Boston by providing a supported pathway to self-sufficiency that begins with a home, together with critical services such as life skills, including financial literacy, and job training. We provide emergency, transitional and permanent housing, and support services, to low-income homeless and formerly homeless families and individuals. As our name reflects, a home provides the optimal foundation to get back on track; our programs focus heavily on getting people permanently housed as quickly as possible.Reports to: Director of Family ServicesStatus: Full-time, 40 hours a week, ExemptOverview: Provides intervention and support services to maintain families in permanent housing for up to 18 months.ResponsibilitiesUsing Motivational Interviewing and a collaborative approach conduct an in-depth assessment to best determine the immediate client concerns including, but not limited to: financial, legal, mental health, substance abuse, employment, health care and housekeeping;Develops an economic development and stabilizations plan to best meet each family's housing, economic and stabilization needs;Performs timely follow-ups to families and landlords to maximize adjustment to the new housing and to prevent housing disruption;Helps family establish residential stability and connections to the neighborhood;Assist family to connect or strengthen connections to schools, medical providers, employment services and other resources needed. Connects family with mainstream benefits as appropriate;Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Family Services;Observes all program and agency rules and policies.QualificationsAssociates Degree and four years related work experience or BA Degree with two years related work experience.MA degree preferredExperience with crisis intervention regarding issues such as homelessness, mental health, and substance abuse; housing barriers including legal, financial, psychological and criminal;Knowledge and experience with service agencies and resources for homeless individuals and/or families;Willingness to accompany clients as needed to appointments;Willingness to work as part of a team to promote the goals of the agency;Sensitive to the needs of the homeless, low income and diverse populations;Ability to work in a busy, diverse team setting;Excellent time management, organizational and communication skills;Valid MA driver's license and car required.
