The position will receive direct one-on-one advising experience, research and benchmarking experience and programmatic development.The position is a flexible 15 hours a week, being mindful of night and weekend commitments.This position will work hand-in-hand with a Graduate Intern, student workers, student volunteers and other professional office staff.Primary Duties, Responsibilites, and TasksThe Student Engagement and Leadership Graduate Assistant will help with specific day-to day tasks of the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership. Duties may evolve due to needs and shifting priorities, as well as areas of interest of the Graduate Assistant.Tasks could include, but are not limited to:-Advising of Emerson Mane Events, the college?s student activities board-Oversight of Strengths Seminar, a month long training opportunity using StrengthsQuest-Assist with the annual Emerson Recognition & Achievement Awards, the college?s end of the year awards banquet-Student Organization Reactivation Workshops-Assist with the creation and updating of online training resources-Student Organization Support Services-Campus Center operations-Help create intentional branding and marketing to promote the office and its features-Assist student organizations with day to day tasks-Assist with budget managementRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Education (including hardware, software, and equipment)The Graduate Assistant will have base level student organization advising skills, management skills and the ability to navigate a higher education environment.Additional skills include power point, graphic design and ability to speak in front of large groups.Preferred/Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Education (including hardware, software, and equipment)Required Prior Work ExperienceThe Graduate Assistant must have prior experience with collegiate event planning and student organization experience, preferably at a four year institute of higher education.Special Instructions to ApplicantsDiversity StatementEmerson College believes diversity enriches the educational experience by providing students with the opportunity to learn from individuals who may have different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
