Ecology Action has an opening for an IT Support Technician to join our team. This position provides IT support at the systems and desktop levels for an organization with approximately 120 employees. Many of these employees work from satellite offices or their homes, so remote user support is essential. The technical environment includes both Macs and PCs, VOIP, Office 365, and multiple mobile platforms. This position is based out of the Santa Cruz company headquarters.
Responsibilities for this position can include but are not limited to:
* Respond to telephone calls, trouble tickets, email, and personnel requests for technical support via Jira Service Desk. * Create and maintain documentation of systems configurations and IT information via Confluence. * Use internal systems to track and monitor problems, ensuring a timely resolution or appropriate communication regarding delays. * Support our growing number of meeting room audio visual systems and support our monthly company meetings. * Support and configure various SaaS products that IT and other departments use to perform business critical functions. * Support, monitor, test, and troubleshoot hardware and software problems pertaining to laptops, mobile devices, LANs, servers, networking gear, and other IT-related equipment. * Support, monitor, test and troubleshoot hardware and software related to the VOIP system; Interface with service providers and system vendors to provide timely resolution to VOIP issues. * Recommend, schedule, and perform repairs for computers, network gear, telephony equipment, printers, etc. * Support our Patch Management System to keep our fleet of PC's up to date. * Identify, research, and resolve technical problems. * Install and configure equipment, including workstations, telephones, networking, and servers. * Coordinate with IT service providers as needed to obtain specialized expertise and other assistance. * Maintain familiarity with industry standards and best practices. * Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* A minimum of 3 years' experience performing similar functions * Proficient with Macs, Windows-based PCs, and iOS devices (iPads, iPhone) * Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience * Willingness to take ownership of projects and other aspects of the IT working environment * Highly protective of confidential information * Must be even-tempered, versatile, and flexible * Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including listening and questioning skills * Passionate about new technology and improving IT processes * Commitment to excellence and high standards * Must be accurate, punctual, and detail-oriented * Good communication skills to support remote staff * Exceptional customer service orientation with the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language. * Proven analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct research into a wide range of topics, and absorb and retain information quickly.
LAN and server management experience, including Active Directory, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, and PowerShell scripting
* Proficient with advanced features of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Outlook and Microsoft Teams * Working knowledge of security protocols and practices * Commitment to protecting the environment is a plus * WordPress and other Web technology experience is a plus * Familiarity with at least one MDM system (we currently use Intune)

Compensation: The compensation for this position consists of a competitive annual base salary and a generous benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision and flexible spending benefits; a 401k-retirement plan with a 4% match; and group life insurance. Driving an insured personal vehicle on company business is required, and mileage reimbursement is provided at the Federal rate.
