The Academic Medical Advisor provides academic advising to current students and provides visa compliance advising to international students. This individual plays a key role in helping students develop the required skills to master a difficult and lengthy licensing examination. The Academic Medical ?Advisor will for each student 1) model best practices for developing study plans, 2) track and provide feedback on student progress, 3) assist the student in analyzing and interpreting examination and quiz results, and 4) assist the student in assessing their overall progress and readiness. Academic Medical Advisors have long-term experience with the medical licensure process and/or have navigated through at least part of the USMLE process. ?


Business Strategy

  • Advise and counsel students through a variety of tools (personalized study plans, residency timelines, ECFMG application steps, etc.), providing exceptional customer service

  • Run weekly workshops focused on the residency/USMLE? application and review process and weekly guided content based review sessions

  • Contribute to initiatives to standardize and improve the student experience

  • Maintaining compliance for all appropriate federal and state regulations related to administering student visas

  • Counsel students on programs and requirements necessary to maintain appropriate status

  • Maintain records of international students both for compliance and for business management

  • Assist in the administration of Kaplan classes

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Expertise in USMLE test and path to residency for IMGs and US Med Students

  • Excellent time management, project management, and organizational skills

  • High energy, confident, and optimistic with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced education environment

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

  • Results focused with a passion for customer service

  • Prior teaching experience strongly preferred

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to learn/work effectively with the following programs: shared Google resources, Adobe Connect, Skype, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office


  • Medical Degree

  • Customer service experience

  • Prior teaching experience strongly preferred

  • Fluency in Spanish a plus
