Counsel - Financial ProductsNew YorkPosition OverviewCounsel will be responsible for providing legal advice to Apollo's FIG and other businesses. Counsel will lead or partner on transactions and firm initiatives of varying size, scope and complexity. This role will work closely with the General Counsel of Financial Products as well as other professionals across the platform.Primary Responsibilities* Assist and advise on transactions across the firm, funds, managed accounts and other investment entities* Oversee and drive legal process on transactions and corporate and platform initiatives* Partner with investment professionals; legal, tax and compliance teams; and finance, accounting, operations and other infrastructure professionals* Provide instructions, coordination and oversight to external counsel and other advisors* Analyze and advise on a wide array of M&A, corporate, securities law, diligence and regulatory issues* Assist with regulatory communications and filings* Review and provide counsel on disclosure and marketing materials* Address fund administration, interpretation and compliance* Assist with legal department administrative matters, including law firm invoice oversightQualifications & Experience* Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school; member in good standing with the New York State Bar Association* 5-7 years of relevant legal experience at a premier law firm or in the in-house legal department of a top-tier private equity firm, hedge fund, alternative investment manager or investment bank* Complex transactional M&A and corporate experience required* Private equity and transaction FIG experience are a significant plus* Debt/equity capital markets and international experience are also a plus* Superior analytic intelligence, engagement and ability to handle complexity required* Able to distill and synthesize large amounts of information with emphasis on identifying legal, regulatory, compliance, accounting, practical and other issues* Disposed to think critically and propose business-oriented solutions combining excellent judgement, creativity and technical expertise* Willing to build and maintain strong relationships/credibility with relevant internal stakeholders, outside counsel, consultants and regulators, including internationally* Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills* Can execute strategy with appropriate urgency and respect for details and complexities* Can work independently, as well as in collaborative partnership with a team* Thrives in a fast-paced, rigorous work environment* Prioritizes effectively to meet competing deadlines * The salary listed in the header is an estimate based on salary data for similar jobs in the same area.
